About Me!
I am a yoga teacher located in Winston-Salem North Carolina. I began practicing yoga in 2009 and received my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certificate in 2019. I started teaching immediately at the studio I trained through and have been leading classes there ever since.
Previously I worked in the mobile device sphere of technology for almost 10 years before throwing in the towel in 2022. I quit my corporate job based in San Francisco, donated all the formal office clothes I rarely wore, tore apart my desk and turned my home office into a meditation room. I taught myself how to rest in ways I never allowed myself to rest. It took months to get past the burnout of living out of alignment for so long. I thought I would never open a computer again, I was so incredibly over anything that had to do with technology.
I spent a season of life, most of 2022, reclaiming my spirit and responding to every good desire I had: I expanded my yoga teaching to private classes in students homes and traveled frequently, carrying my yoga mat everywhere with me. I love to travel. I love to hike in the wilderness. I love to read. And I love using my voice to share the practice of yoga.
This practice gives me an ability to live intentionally, to be present, and to stay balanced as I move through the world. One of the reasons I practice is because I want to stay physically healthy and be able to move with grace as I continue to grow up. I want to be able to keep hopping on rocks through mountain streams without worrying about slipping or falling. Yoga adds a big element of play into my existence, and as an adult I really have to put effort into carving out spaces to play. Yoga makes finding that time a little easier. One hour is only 5% of the day. It's amazing what setting aside an hour a day, or even a week, to practice playful movement has done for my focus and my energy.
The only reason I opened this computer again was to create this website. I would love to share my yoga practice with you. I teach individuals and groups. I teach online and in person. I teach adults and I teach families with children. Please reach out if you're interested in beginning yoga classes with me! I would love to hear from you.
